Theatre Maker, Director and Producer

I make work collaboratively, bringing together writers, performers, designers and other specialists, to create unique and unforgettable original theatre. Through a constantly evolving collective process that includes writing, devising and artist led exploration, we research and develop challenging, intelligent and unconventional subjects, telling politically and socially conscious stories to entertain and engage. Our productions are detailed and dynamic, often incorporating original music and complex sound design, with film and image projection to create a strong visual style.

War Stories

Produced and directed in 2014 as an international collaborative commission for Manchester's 24:7 Theatre Festival and the You Are Here Festival, in Canberra, Australia, this compelling new play was a response to the centenary of the First World War, exploring the impact it had on both Great Britain and Australia. Selected for the Re:play Festival 2015 at HOME the play also toured the Greater Manchester and Buxton Fringe festivals through Summer 2016, picking up a nomination for 'Best Production' and 'Best Actor' for Verity May-Henry, and will tour again through 2017/18.

A very real emotional journey... one of the best one-act plays I have seen in a very long time.
★★★★★ North West End

'Exceptional… As quietly moving as anything else I’ve seen on World War One. Credit to director Benedict Power for bringing the work to such a fine performance standard.'

Media

  • ★★★★ ‘Real Life’ is a masterful display of tight writing, performance and a great deal of lunacy.

    John Stansfield, The Skinny
  • TEMP/CASUAL: ‘Eloquent, moving and completely gripping'

    Kevin Bourke, Manchester Evening News
  • TEMP/CASUAL: 'Astutely directed... animated and slick scene changes… very well choreographed.'

    Alex Rogerson, Arts Council England
  • TEMP/CASUAL: ‘ … enaging, funny and heartfelt … Ben Power’s slick direction and the effective use of a simple yet multi-functional set design, combined with a rousing sound score and multi-media elements, also add to this highly accessible production..’
